The Faculty of Midwives and Nursing (FMAM) was established by GD no. 635/11.06.2008 and is the youngest educational form of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova.
The establishment of the Faculty of Midwives and Nursing of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova is in line with the recommendations of the European Union to approach the sectorally regulated specializations of midwives and nurses from a scientific position, which gives autonomy in health care activity.
The educational process within the FMAM of UMF Craiova is ensured by the teaching staff of UMF Craiova, who work together to successfully accomplish the specific tasks of each undergraduate field.
The teaching subjects are laid down in a logical sequence and define the general and specific competences of the field, in correlation with the competences of the Master's studies; they are compatible with the national qualifications framework and with similar EU programmes, the weight of the subjects being expressed in ECTS study credits.
Graduates of the FMAM are offered the possibility of continuing their studies in the second cycle of university education in the form of master's studies.
In the academic year 2009-2010, the Master's program Development of Community Nursing Services was accredited. The Master's programme opens up the possibility for nurses to systematically carry out research work and offers them the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies and to participate directly in the teaching activity of the FMAM.
Then, in the academic year 2020-2021, the educational offer of the FMAM, was improved by the establishment of the Radiology and Imaging study program which proved to be a success, and in the academic year 2023-2024, the Nutrition and Dietetics program.
The main mission of the FMAM, an integral part of UMF Craiova, is to promote education and academic performance in the training of competitive graduates who can integrate into the labour market in all health systems in the world.
The fundamental strategic objective is to increase the quality of the educational process, both in terms of achieving the European dimensions of university education and the internal dimensions of academic quality.
The professionalism and skills acquired, the human quality that we want to develop, aim to bring the graduate the trust and respect of patients and allow them to contribute to the progress of science.
In order to broaden the educational offer we propose the procedures for the establishment of two master programs for BFKT graduates, namely Radiology and Imaging.
The material base of the Faculty of Midwives and Nursing with its four study programmes, General Nursing, Radiology and Imaging, Balneophysiokinesitherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, ensures a high standard, perfectly in line with current requirements.
Dear students, on behalf of all teachers, I assure you of my full support in order to achieve the projects you have proposed!
