History of the Faculty of Midwives and Nursing

The Faculty of Midwives and Nursing (FMAM) was established by GD no. 635/11.06.2008 and is the youngest educational form of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova.

 

In the academic year 1998/1999 the University College of Medicine of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova was established, and was authorized to temporarily operate with the specializations: Nurses and Dental Technicians. In 2000 the specialization Physiokinetotherapy was established with provisional authorization to operate as a specialization within the Faculty of Medicine of UMF Craiova, and the first generation of students entered the lecture halls on October 1st 2001.

 

The 2004-2005 academic year saw the enrolment of two new specialisations: General Nursing (long term) and Midwives. These programmes led to the design of the Faculty of Midwives and Nursing in the 2005-2006 academic year.
