History of medicine is the discipline that studies the development of medical doctrines, health care organization and medical practice in the socio-political and cultural context of various historical periods.

Objectives of the discipline:

• forming an overview of the social and cultural influences involved in the evolution and development of medicine
• understanding the role that multiculturalism has played in the evolution of Romanian medicine
• understanding some historical examples of medical humanism
• participation in the complex training of future doctors, by creating personality and developing character
• creating a sense of belonging to a group of values common to the medical school of Craiova, which the student can identify with
