From 12 to 16 February, the Craiova Society of Medical Students and the Human Genomics Laboratory (LGU - UMFCV) will implement, with the support of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, the innovative project "How to read the Genetic Code: a different journey into genetics and rare diseases".
This project takes place in the month in which the International Day of Rare Diseases is celebrated and aims to bring closer to the community the progress made in the field of molecular biology and the principles of genomic medicine, thus continuing the activities carried out in this direction in Oltenia by the late Prof. PhD Mihai Ioana.
The project is aimed at high school students from "Frații Buzești" National High School, "Elena Cuza" National High School and "Carol I" National High School, who will have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of the human genetic code through specialized lectures and practical activities. The aim of the project is to provide participants with a detailed understanding of the topics covered, to increase their interest in medical sciences and to provide relevant information about rare genetic diseases. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with dedicated students who will accompany them on an exciting journey into the world of DNA and heredity, together with members of LGU - UMFCV.
At the end of the project, students will have the opportunity to participate in the conference “Exploring the Future of Medicine: AI-Driven Learning and Cutting-Edge Technology in Genomics Education” given by Daniel Salcedo (MD, MHPE), a specialist in Educational Technology in the United States.
