Research directions and material base

In 2019, the teaching spaces of the Genetics and Cell and Molecular Biology disciplines were completely renovated and equipped. The didactic activity (practical work) is carried out in two modernized laboratories, equipped with high-performance optical microscopes, and the research and diagnostic activity is carried out in collaboration with the discipline of Cell and Molecular Biology in the Human Genomics Laboratory (LGU), UMF Craiova. The discipline's team is involved in national and international research projects on a wide range of pathologies (from more frequent pathologies, such as digestive cancers, to less frequent diseases, but with major medical and socio-economic implications: chromosomal diseases, neuromuscular diseases). The direction of the research has real applicability in current medical practice, both in terms of diagnosis and management of the pathologies included in the studies.   

The Genetics Discipline team has close collaborative links with members of the Genetics disciplines in the country, but also with colleagues from prestigious centres abroad: Institut Cochin Paris, Hopital Pitié Salpêtrière Paris, University College London, Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen.
