History of the Faculty of Pharmacy

History of the Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy has a well-defined position within UMFCV, and during the almost 25 years of its foundation it has shown remarkable results both in the field of teaching and in the scientific field.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at UMFCV has gone through the stages of evolution that the university has gone through over the years. In 1996, the Pharmacy specialization started its activity with 51 students in the study program "Pharmacy", but as time went by the number of students increased so that, at the last institutional evaluation carried out by ARACIS in the academic year 2014-2015, 125 places in the first year of study were approved for this degree program (according to the ARACIS Council Decision of 30.04.2015). The project of the Faculty of Pharmacy became a reality out of a necessity of the national modernization project and was very strongly supported by the teaching teams of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry.

After the ARACIS evaluation in 2015, in the academic year 2015-2016, the training of students in the undergraduate program "Pharmacy - English language" began, a program authorized by ARACIS in 2013, but to which admission was suspended in 2019 because it followed the general trend of a reduced interest in such a program in English, with only 22 students enrolled in the year 2020-2021.

During all this time, the teaching staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy have carried out activities that support the primary mission of the faculty in the areas of teaching and scientific research, consistent with the mission of UMFCV - teaching, scientific research, nursing and continuing medical education - and the objectives set for its fulfilment, but also containing elements of specificity and opportunity in accordance with the national qualifications framework.
